So Long, and Thanks for All the Tickets: The Curious Tale of Cherwell’s Departure

There comes a time in every IT service management solution's life when it reaches what can only be described as a certain age of distinguished obsolescence. On December 31, 2026, Cherwell Service Management (CSM), that venerable titan of ticket tracking, will reach the end of its service life.

You heard it right—Cherwell, that dependable friend in the chaotic world of service requests, will politely shuffle off this mortal coil and join the great IT service desk in the sky, taking its last polite and orderly bow.

This, of course, has not been done without due ceremony and foresight. Ivanti, the great overseer of Cherwell’s fate, has announced that the end is nigh, and no, you can’t request an extension. But don’t panic (or at least try not to). As all good things must eventually end, it seems Cherwell's key features will live on, tucked carefully into Ivanti’s broader portfolio, much like the last biscuits you forgot were in the tin. But there's a plot twist just as you’ve finally settled into your favourite chair with a nice cup of tea and a fond memory of your Cherwell dashboards.

Enter Jira Service Management (JSM). Think of it as the hyper-evolved descendant of Cherwell.

This next-generation service management interface doesn’t just handle your tickets—it makes them feel good about themselves while doing so. It's sleek, modern, and terribly feature-rich, offering everything from flexible workflows to codeless configurations, which—let’s be honest—is a relief for anyone who's ever stared at a codebase as though it were Vogon poetry.

But before you start waving goodbye to Cherwell (perhaps with a small tear in your eye), let’s talk about the migration process. Migrating from one service management platform to another is like moving house—except all your furniture is made of digital tickets, and occasionally, they catch fire if you drop them.

Fear not. SelectStar Solutions, Atlassian's esteemed partner in all things organized and ticketed, ensures your transition from Cherwell to JSM is as smooth as a hot cup of tea on a cold Thursday afternoon.

With our expert guidance, you’ll survive the migration and probably wonder why you didn’t pack up and move to JSM sooner. After all, JSM doesn’t just offer a better user interface; it offers service management workflows that are so flexible they’d win gold in the Olympic gymnastics of IT management, and it does so without the need for cumbersome configurations.

So, while Cherwell may be on its way out, Jira Service Management is rolling out the red carpet for your business to step boldly into the future of service management.

It’s not so much the end of a chapter as the start of a much more exciting one, filled with innovation, efficiency, and fewer coding headaches.

As we prepare to bid farewell to our old friend Cherwell, let’s take comfort in knowing that the future is bright and full of service tickets that resolve themselves just that little bit faster.

So long, Cherwell, and thanks for all the tickets.
